What is the difference between a merchandise or store credit and a gift card?
Merchandise and store credits are issued by some merchants when an item is returned to their store without a receipt. Many merchants treat merchandise credits in the same manner as regular gift cards and only issue a different type of card for accounting purposes. Can gift cards and merchandise credits be combined with other rebates, coupons and in-store specials?
Yes. Gift cards are as good as cash by each particular merchant. Coupons, rebates, in store specials lower the price of the order. When it comes time to pay just swipe your gift card instead of your credit card or cash payment.
Do gift cards expire?
Most gift cards never expire. Due to governmental intervention most merchants removed any expiration date from their gift cards. In fact, in some states no gift cards may have an expiration date. To get more detailed information, contact the particular merchant or local government agencies.
How do you sell your cards so cheap?
Traditionally, there was no method to purchase gift cards for less than their face value unless one was purchasing hundreds of thousands of dollars to be given away at some corporate promotion where the merchant themselves would offer small discount. Many merchants can not afford to offer a large discount on the purchase of gift cards. In this competitive market after all their coupons and rebates their profit margin per item sold is miniscule. For instance, Starbucks' bulk gift card sales department requires a minimum purchase of $500,000 to get a discount of 6%, whereas, CardCash sells them at a 12% discount, with no minimum purchase.

Why are some of the gift card values odd numbers?
We are a secondary marketplace. We sell cards we receive from consumers who do not intend to use them and would rather redeem them for cash. Often consumers sell us cards they partially used and have no interest to use the remaining balance.

Why are the Merchants so eager to work with you aren't you their competition?
No. The merchants are actually very pleased with a secondary gift card marketplace. When a company sells a gift card, it initially records a liability on its balance sheet for its obligation to the card's holder. The liability is erased and revenue is recorded when the card is used or expires. In light of the government’s intervention to prevent expiration dates on gift cards, complications arise when a card is sold and the holder fails to use the entire balance. That could leave a retailer reporting a liability on its books for years. Thanks, to the secondary market transferring the cards from people who are not interested in using them into the hands of those eager – the merchants have seen an increase in the amount of cards redeemed and are able to mark them as revenue.
How is CardCash different than other secondary marketplaces or other venues offering gift cards at a reduced price?
While there are other outlets to buy and trade gift cards, security is a top concern. Although, the bulk of these venues are legitimate, the secondary gift card market is still a nascent business. Despite a range of policies and protections, a transaction is only as safe as its participants. And there are still real concerns about stolen merchandise and fraud.

Is there anything to be concerned about by buying gift cards from third party vendors?
It all depends who you buy them from. Knowing your seller is the first step to a safer transaction. There are unfortunately people who circulate fraudulent cards that may have been purchased with a stolen credit card, for example, and are willing to sell them at great discounts. It is for this reason, that CardCash does not list any cards from third parties. Instead, we purchase all the cards ourselves, and prior to purchasing them we verify extensively their validity and only then can we feel secure to sell them to our customers. It is because of our security measures that we are able to stand behind the cards we sell.
What are your hours of operation?
All of our locations are located in the tri-state area and operate during normal business hours eastern standard time Monday to Friday.
We generally do not process any orders over the weekend unless it’s during a high volume holiday season.

Purchasing Gift Cards
What qualifies a bulk buyer and what discounts are offered?
Purchases over $1,000 dollars qualify for our bulk discounted rate. The discount varies depending on the merchant and amount purchased but generally is an additional 2-3%. In order to receive the discounted price, contact the CardCash bulk gift card department.
What method of payments do you accept?
We offer two methods of payments for gift card purchases. Credit Card and PayPal.
How do you ship the cards?
We offer two methods of delivery. USPS First Class Mail with delivery confirmation, and USPS Priority Mail. Customers can contact us to request overnight delivery for an aditional charge.
How long does it take for the cards to arrive by mail?
All orders are generally processed and shipped within 24 hours. The actual delivery time varies upon your location. All cards are shipped either from our headquarters in East Windsor, NJ or from one of our other locations in the NY-NJ area. It can take 2-5 business days. To receive overnight expedited mail, contact our sales department and request it. Additional charges apply.
What are the shipping costs?
Standard shipping is free with the order total (i.e. not the face value of the cards) exceeds $50. For orders below $50 it is only $1 per order. Want to save even on that $1? There are many cards on our site that are sold in smaller denominations that can serve as fillers to bring your order total over the $50 minimum. Many restaurant cards are sold in $10 denominations. A great percentage of our cards are sold in $25 denominations.
I am sending the card I purchased as a gift and would like to ship it to a different address then my billing address can I do that?
Orders paid with PayPal can only be shipped to a PayPal Confirmed Address. Credit Card orders can only be shipped to the billing address listed on your credit card statement. For an exception to be made, please contact our sales team at 800-Cash-214. Exceptions are made by the sole discretion of our customer care representatives upon performing additional verification.
Do you offer email delivery?
Gift cards that can be used for online purchases are available through our email delivery option. In the product description for each gift card we indicate whether the merchant accepts them online. Email delivery has the advantage of getting your card numbers faster. Card numbers that are emailed can be used to purchase items online.
However, for security reasons, new customers do not qualify for email delivery. In order to qualify for email delivery, you must be a customer for at least 30 days and pay with the same credit card or paypal account you used previously. Qualifying customers, can specify in the order comments section that they would like to receive the card numbers emailed. The actual physical cards will be shipped to their billing address as well. CardCash reserves the right, for security reasons, not to honor certain email delivery requests. Customers will be notified in such an event.
How long does email delivery take?
Email delivery eliminates the shipping time. However, it can take up to 24 hours for the order to be processed as is with regular orders shipped via USPS.
What is CardCash's return policy?
Unlike other venues that declare all sales of gift cards to be final, CardCash offers customers two options to return their cards. Customers who after receiving their order change their mind can take advantage of our “sell” and “trade” options. Customers can trade the cards for other cards on the site and pay only a small transaction fee which is significantly lower than what major retailers charge for a restocking fee. Alternatively, the customers can resell us their cards for our discounted buyback prices. Unfortunately, full refunds are not available unless the card is not valid.
How much would you pay to buy my gift cards from me?
On our sell page we have listed the price for most of the cards we purchase. If you card is not listed, contact our sales team and we will be happy to assist you. We pay top dollar for your cards.
What do I have to do to sell you my cards?
Fill out the contact form with the gift card information.
Once the form is filled out and submitted, we will start our investigations and perform our standard security checks on the seller. You will receive an email within 24 hours letting you know if your sell offer has been accepted. If it has, you will at that time receive an email with detailed instructions how and where to mail your cards. Once we receive your cards, we will conclude our verification of the cards and issue you your payment.
What security checks our performed?
CardCash works closely with many merchants who assist us in validating and verifying all the cards we purchase. Additionally, CardCash follows the strict guidelines recommended by national fraud investigating agencies to sift out any fraudulent sellers and cards.
Sellers must either be a verified PayPal member or provide other information for verification purposes.
How will I receive my payment?
CardCash generally sends the payment to ones PayPal account. Paypal fees for receiving the funds are reimbursed by CardCash. The customer would have to be a verified PayPal member. For first time sellers selling gift cards less than $200 face value, CardCash can mail the customer a check.
How long does it take for me to receive my payment?
CardCash issues payments quickly. Once we receive the cards and conclude our verification we will issue the payment. Customers, who choose to have their payments issued to their verified PayPal account, receive their payment quicker. Generally, payments are issued within 2-3 business days. The delivery timeframe for customers who rather receive payment by check varies based on their location. All checks are sent out from one of our NJ locations.
How do I proceed with a trade?
CardCash has simplified the trading process to enable customers to have the freedom to trade their own gift cards with any gift card available in our vast inventory. To proceed with a trade, first you have to purchase the gift cards that you are interested in. The face value of the cards you purchase must be equal or greater than the face value of the cards you wish to trade in. The purchase must be paid with a verified PayPal account or have the cards mailed to the billing address on one's credit card statement. Once the order is placed and paid, we will immediately ship out your cards. With this method, you do not have to wait to receive the cards you want until you send in your own cards.
After the order is placed, you will receive an order number on the confirmation page. This number will be emailed to you as well. Write down this number.
Then, fill out the trade form on the trade page. Enter into the fields the order number you wrote down before, the information of your own gift cards which you wish to send in (e.g. merchant name(s), card number, value, etc), and your contact information.
Once we receive the trade form, we will send you an email with the detailed information where and how to send in your cards.
Once we receive your cards and validate them, we will issue you a credit back to the PayPal account or credit card you used to make your original payment.
How much of a credit will I receive back in my PayPal account once I send in my cards?
You will receive a credit back for the total amount you paid for the portion of the trade less a minimal transaction fee.
The transaction fee ranges between 3%-30% of the face value of the cards traded in. See next question for details about the transaction fees.
For example if you purchase a card that has a face value of $100 card and trade in a $100 card from a different merchant, we will credit you back all of what you originally paid less the appropriate transaction fee.
If you purchase a card that has a face value of $200 but only trade in a card that has a $100 face value, we will obviously only credit you back for what you paid for the portion of trade (i.e. $100) less the appropriate transaction fee. You will however still receive our discounted purchase rates on the remaining $100. To illustrate this in greater detail, if you purchased a card that has the face value of $200 at a 10% discount and therefore paid for the card $180, but only sent in a $100 card for the trade. We will credit you back the amount you paid for the portion of the card that has the same face value as the card you traded in. Therefore, in this example, you only paid for the $100 portion of the $200 card $90. We therefore will credit you back $90 minus the appropriate transaction fee.

CardCash has three advantages with its trading system compared to other venues that offer trading options. 1. The cards you want ship out right away and you do not have to wait to mail in your cards. 2. You have the largest selection of cards to trade with. 3. Our transaction fees are significantly lower than anyone else.
How do you compute the transaction fees?
It all depends on which cards you are trading with. Some merchants are more popular than others. For example a gas card is more popular than some clothing department stores. In order to maintain fairness in the trades we have divided our cards into four categories.
If you trade cards within the same category the transaction will be 10% of the face value of the cards that you are sending in.
If you have a card in category one (e.g. a gas card) but would rather exchange that for card in any of the lower categories – all you would be charged is 3% of the face value of the cards that you are sending in.
If you have a card in a lower category but would rather exchange it for a card in a higher category, you will be charged 10% plus an additional 5% for every category jump you make. For example if you are trading in a card that is in category four and would like a card in category two, you would be charged 20% since there were two category jumps involved. To exchange a card from a lower category for a card in category one there is an additional surcharge of 5% beyond the normal 5% for the category jump. Therefore, if you were to trade a card from category four to a card in category one the transaction fee would be 30% instead of 25%. The surcharge was instituted since the cards listed in category one are in high demand and have a very high resale value.
