Earn Money for College When Purchasing Gift Cards
from Hundreds of Brands
Giving, a new product from CardCash is an innovative mobile payment solution that brings together shoppers, brands, and important causes. Giving has been designed for two reasons 1. to help our partners in the for-profit and non-profit domain engage with their members through daily shopping and 2. to help shoppers remain engaged with causes they support.
Gift of College, a for-profit platform that facilitates crowdfunding for higher education expenses, has partnered with CardCash to launch Cashback for College.
Available now for both iOS and Android, Cashback for College encourages shoppers to purchase digital gift cards to pay for online, in-app, or in-store purchases. A percentage of the total amount of each retail gift card purchased through the Cashback for College App will be directed through a user’s Gift of College profile to the 529 college savings plan, student loan or 529 ABLE accounts the user has synced with the app, once the contributions reach a designated minimum. Cashback for College features more than 200 world-class brands like Wal-Mart, CVS, The Home Depot, Foot Locker, Best Buy, Uber, Sephora, and many more. “Student loan debt is topping over $1.6 trillion in the U.S., and that is just not okay. During these challenging economic times, our goal is to help families take control of their financial futures by making it easy and streamlined to contribute to a 529 college savings plan account or to pay down student debt,” said Wayne Weber, CEO, and founder, Gift of College. “Finding small and simple savings solutions that are already a part of everyday life can add up in a big way. When it comes to saving for college, every dollar counts.”
In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic has accelerated the adoption of contactless payments, like digital gift cards that can be purchased using the CashBack for College app. More than 51% of Americans are now using some form of contactless payment for their day-to-day purchases “Leveraging the momentum and acceptance of digital gift cards in-store, online, or in-app, has placed Cashback for College in a unique position to disrupt the crowdfunding world,” said Yechezkel Hertz, Product Manager at CardCash. “We’re anticipating those most in need — the Millennials, the Gen Z population, and their families —to benefit substantially from this product.”
It’s been a tough year for students, graduates, and their families. Special events and graduations have been postponed or canceled. School years have been cut short. The new reality of school in the fall is still unknown in many states.
“If we can use our innovative tech and great partnerships to help lessen the burden of fulfilling an education dream, especially during these uncertain times, it’s our responsibility to do so,” said Tom Ochoa, Head of Sales and Business Development, CardCash.
